The last few months have been insane trying to do home repairs to get our house ready to sell, de junking (totally a word), doing rental stuff, Dan traveling for three weeks and then ten days, the kids having colds and me having a sinus infection; I've found that there are things in my life that are always expected to work. And when they don't, I really miss them and tell them I won't take them for granted any more.
For example:
Mr. Dishwasher,
I'll be nice I promise. Just please start working again so that I don't have to.....

Another thing I promise to not take for granted is:
A working phone.
Ms. Working phone,
Thank you for making it possible for me to hear the person who is calling me. Thank you for making it possible for the person who is calling me to understand me; without me having to shout directly into the mouth piece and still sound like I am in a bucket of water. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for having a cute red cover over your battery. I did not like how immodest my other phone was. Sheesh, is it so hard to stay covered?
I swear I will try to remember to not take you all for granted and will say please and thank you when I can.
Lovingly and Gratefully,
Kyla J.

I need to remember to be more grateful too! I'm glad you have your husband back at home with your family! :D
Too funny! Makes me grateful for a working dishwasher just reading yours and thinking about washing all our dishes by hand...no fun!
Sorry, I should clarify....I meant too funny that you wrote your post that way, NOT too funny that those things broke down on you and caused you agony.
Stace, you are too nice, I knew what you meant ;)
